Friendly Match Report

A great game against Stratton Juniors today. Lots of goals and exciting
football from both teams. We scored some good goals (Johan, Tom and
Charlie), but the big learning point for Wanborough is to ensure the
midfielders get back to help the defenders. We lost a couple of goals
when it was 4 attackers against a lone defender and the goalie and
everyone else standing and watching. Overall we need a bit more effort
and players wanting the ball. We are hoping to play another friendly
against Stratton later in the season.
Captains MoM: Tom H for good work and smashing goal.
Coaches MoM: Johan for working the hardest and deserved goals.

Wanborough 1 - 1 Marlborough

Marlborough played much better than might be expected from their league
position in an exciting match. A solid defence meant Wanborough had few
clear chances. Johan scored just before half time to take Wanborough
into the break 1-0 up. Marlborough broke free and scored in the second
half to tie the game and despite some thrilling end to end football
neither team manged to score another goal. Man of the match for
Wanborough was Samuel playing in goal. Some remarkable saves including
one tipped over the bar from a well taken free kick earnt him both the
Captain's and Coaches' MoM awards.
Positives: Good possession and challenging for the ball. Newer players
making a good contribution.
Learning points: We still need to see much more passing the ball. No-one
should ever be standing and watching on the pitch (even the goalie!)
